Getting there & Away

You can travel by Train, by bus or by taxi, or check if your hotel offers a hotel shuttle service. There are two train routes the S1 and S8 which will bring you to/from Ostbanhof (east) or Herrsching via the Hauptbahnhof (Main Station), where you can join the main line trains; estimated 45 minutes travel time. For buses to the city center, to nearby town and to other cities, simply go to the bus station located in from of the Munich Airport Centre, right beside Terminal 1 and 2. Taxis take about 45 minutes to get into the city. To get a taxi from Terminal 1 go to Level E04, to get a taxi from Terminal 2 go along the access ramp on level E03, or also in the Central area on Level E03.

Munich is best known for Oktoberfest, however, the city and the area has much more to offer than just the beer festival. They have the world´s largests municipal gardens called the Englischer Garten or the English Gardens. You should also check out the German Theater Museum and the Deutsche Museum. Or try and get a ticket to see Bayern Munich play. Outside of the city there is BWM Welt Museum (BMW world museum) which is the only one in the world. Or jump into your hire car and so see the Schloss Nymphenburg which is a breathtakingly beautiful castle and is picture perfect in winter or summer. Also, 12kms outside of Munich is the Dachau Concentration Camp which was the first Nazi Germany Concentration camp. Or drive a little further to Castle Road and experience Bayreuth, Nuremberg and Bamberg. And our favourite, a day trip to the Königsee, near Berchtesgaden.
