Getting there & Away
Verona city is 15-20 minutes by car from the airport, however, if you are choosing not to have a hire car, then there are a few options available to you. For Verona city or the train station in Verona, buses run every 20 minutes from 5.30am to 11.35pm and will cost you €6. For a taxi to the city centre, expect to pay about €20. If you are going to Lake Garda or to the South Tyrol region it is advised to book or organise your onward transport before you get to the airport. The South Tyrol shuttle bus is about €50 per person and for those of you going to Lake Garda, then the cost will depend on what town on the lake you wish to visit.
Things to do
Irrespective of the time of the year that you fly into Verona, there is always a lot to do in the area and within a short driving distance. For summer sun on the lakes, sunbathing, swimming, boating and eating or touring around in any of the fabulous towns around Lake Garda including Lazise (30 minutes), Barldolino (30 minutes), Peschiera (25 minutes) and Riva (1 hour 5 minutes). There are a number of cities well worth a visit within driving distance of Verona including Verona city (15 minutes), Venice (1 hour 25 minutes), Bolzano (2 hours) and Milan (1 hour 30 minutes). In the winter, you can fly to Verona and then jump into your hire car and head for the slopes in some of the best ski resorts in the Dolomites such as Levignio and Plan de Corones.
