Going to the Amalfi Coast is not so much what the top things to do are, but more about the best places to see while you are there. You will want to visit the little towns along the coast, dine on local food and wine, stroll around cathedrals and plazas, sip a coffee, have an aperitif or spend some quality time on the beach. In Amalfi itself check out the local Cathedral, the Museo Civico and hop on a boat for a trip to the Grotto dello Smeraldo with its amazingly clear waters. Road Trips
Any road trip in Amalfi should be all about the coast here, so begin in Salerno and pick up the SS163 at Vietri sul Mare and follow the road along the coast stopping off at as many viewing points as your heart desires. Close to Atrani you will go inland a little to Ravello, one of the most romantic towns in all of Italy. Then back on the coast to Amalfi for a bit of sightseeing or head up into the hills above the town to the Valle dei Mullni. West then of Amalfi you will drive passed Smeraldo to the Vallone di Furore where you can explore the gorges before arriving in Praiano and Postiamo and depending on time you can head even further along the Sorrento peninsula.
