Venice is tucked away in north eastern Italy, it is the world’s only pedestrian city, set on 118 islands which form the base for the famous canals and interlinking bridges. While it is lovely to be in a city free of cars, Venice does boast over 400 bridges and 150 canals which means it can be very tiring walking around all day, so pace yourself. Exploring the city by taking a random stroll is well worth it as you will stumble across great art, architecture and culture. Be prepared, you will get lost very easily there but don’t worry, it is not too hard to re-orient yourself with lots of signs for the ‘Rialto’ and ‘San Marco’ so you can get back to base easily enough.

In Venice you should have a few “must sees” and time for just strolling around to enjoy the place. Check out the Piazza San Marco which is home to the Basilica di San Marco, Doge´s Palace and the Torre dell´Orologio. Do a Gondola tour, they are not cheap, but it´s Venice, so do it! Other highlights include the Palazzo Ducale, Ponte di RialtoTeatro da Fenice and many museums but if you are short on time, we recommend the Gallerie dell’Accademia di Venezia as a one stop shop for artistic heaven.
