Dollar Car Rental
Founded in 1965 by Henry Caruso in Los Angeles, Dollar has grown under Henry’s leadership to become one of the largest players in the rental car market worldwide. Dollar is thought to the 4th largest rental car company in the world. Starting from humble beginnings with five US locations and growing into a huge operation with over 650 locations worldwide across over 50 countries. The majority of business done by Dollar is in the United States and in Canada and it is also very popular in tourist destinations in America, South America and Europe.
As is the case with a lot of the larger car rental companies, they have changed ownership, and in 1990 Dollar was bought by Chrysler car makers. While Dollar had used the Chrysler brand for a large number of it rentals, Chrysler followed this lead for a while, but there has been a strategic shift within Dollar and they now offer cars from Chrysler and a number of other brands including Hyundai and Ford. They offer cars in all car rental classes from mini and economy to compact, standard, full size, oversize and luxury cars as well as SUVs and minivans.
Dollar Rent a Car puts a strong focus on the comfort and safety of its passengers. Cars come equipped with airbags as standard and air conditioning in warmer climates. Where families are travelling there is always the option to purchase child seats and booster seats. Also for a ski holiday, in certain locations, there are optional extras for ski racks, car chains and roof racks. Check at your booking stage to see what options are available for you.
