Enterprsie Car Rental
Enterprise Rent-A-Car was founded by Jack Taylor in 1957 in Missouri, USA. He had seven cars and a feeling that his idea would take off. It was originally called the ‘Executive Leasing Company’, but was renamed to Enterprise after the USS Enterprise which Taylor served on in World War II. The grew and expanded over the years and in 2009, Enterprise became a subsidiary of Enterprise Holdings Inc, who are also responsible for National Car Rental and Alamo Rent a Car. The company was listed as one of the largest private companies in America in 2008.
Enterprise primarily focussed on the local car rental market specialising in replacement cars following accidents, theft, repair or a short business or pleasure journey. However, in the 1990’s they started to expand from this local focus and started to service airports in the United States, Canada, the UK, Germany and Ireland.
Enterprise Rent-a-Car places a very strong emphasis on customer service and ‘exceeding customer expectations’. They were ranked the 9th best business for customer service on Business Week’s top 25 in 2007, and they have been recognised many times as having the highest customer satisfaction among car rental companies located in or near airports.
Enterprise Rent-A-Car has more than 6,000 car rental locations in US, Canada, the UK, Ireland and Germany. And it has a car rental location within 15 miles of 90% of the population of the United States, so you are never very far from an Enterprise desk. Enterprise has over 600,000 rental cars and 135,000 fleet management vehicles to service all its locations and customers.
More recently, Enterprise has started a car-sharing arm to its business called ‘Enterprise CarShare’ as an extension of its neighbourhood car rental network.
