Hertz or the Hertz Corporation is the second largest Car Rental in Chicago with a fleet of twelve Model Ts. Jacobs sold it in 1923 to John Hertz who renamed the company ‘Hertz-Drive-Ur-Self System’. In 1954 he changed the name of the company to The Hertz Corporation and floated it on the New York Stock Exchange. There have been numerous changes in ownership of the organisation but it is currently a subsidiary of Hertz Global Holdings Inc.
Hertz is a global giant in the rental car market with pick up rental locations in more than 7,700 places in 145 countries around the world. They are the number one car rental brand in US airports and they have almost 70 airport locations in Europe. Hertz also has a strong rental car presence in South America, Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Hertz focuses on both leisure and business car rental customers and they have tailored programmes to add value for customers. These include Hertz Club Gold, their customised ‘Never Lost’ GPS system.
The Hertz Rent a Car fleet is made up of cars from all car rental classes from mini class right up to luxury and elite cars. Car brands include Mazda, Volvo, Mercury, Lincoln, Mercedes, Cadillac as well as Toyota, Nissan, Kia and many more. At the higher end of the market they provide the Hertz Prestige fleet which includes cars like the new Jaguar F-Type. They are also starting to introduce a larger number of electronic cars to their fleet. The Hertz fleet is kept very up to date and cars always relatively new.
The quality of their rental cars, combined with their excellent service means that Hertz always has a strong customer base who come back time and again. According to their website, Hertz Worldwide Reservation Centres handle about 40 million call a year which result in 30 million reservations. The numbers speak for themselves.
