National Rent A Car
Founded in 1947, National is one of the biggest names in car rental worldwide. At the beginning it was a collaboration between 24 independent car rental agencies which combined to have a total of 60 car rental locations across the United States. National has grown considerably from these early days and it now owned by rental car giant Enterprise Holdings, the company also responsible for Alamo Rent a Car and Enterprise Rent a Car. National itself has a worldwide presence of more than 2000 car rental locations worldwide.
National car rental has been at the forefront of many changes and advances in the car rental market. In 1954, they became the first car rental provider to offer one way car rentals, thus proving that they understand their customers need and the market as this is now a standard feature of car rental used on by business people and holiday makers alike to make their travel lives that bit easier. Their next innovation came in 1954 when they became the first car rental provider to use computers for reservations. In 1976, with the deregulation of the airline industry, National yet again saw the opportunity to do something groundbreaking in the market. They became the first ever car rental provider to offer a ‘flat rate’ for car rentals to customers.
In 1987 National Car Rental launched their loyalty programme called the Emerald Club which was a frequent renter programme and allowed members to have a better choice of car, faster through desk service and paperless transactions as well as a fast track drop off. The company is very proud of this and their growing number of members attests to the success of the programme.
With locations throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America and Asia; National Car Rental brings excellence in customer service and car rental experience to customers all over the world.
