Lisbon Airport
or Lisbon Portela as it is also known, is one of the busiest airports in Western Europe for maintenance, air traffic control and navigation. At the World Travel Awards, Lisbon Airport has been voted Europe’s Leading Airport for five years in a row. The airport is 7kms from Lisbon city, which is a very popular gateway for tourists entering Portugal to see the city itself and to explore further afield in Portugal. For this reason, the airport is busy and it is advisable to have onward transportation organised, but this is not too stressful as the airport is well serviced with an underground buses, taxis and of course rental cars if you want to have a bit more freedom.
