Milan Linate Airport

There are three main airports located near Milan; Bergamo, Linate and Malpensa. Milan Linate is the closest airport to Milan city, located 8kms east of the city itself. It only takes about 10 minutes with an airport rental car to get into the city. The airport’s full name is Enrico Forlanini Airport but it’s called Linate because of the village that it is located in. Because Linate is closer to Milan than the other airports, flight prices tend to be a little higher than for Milan Bergamo Airport for example, so it is really a question of convenience and time if you want to fly to Linate.

More About Milan Linate Airport

As is the case for all the airports in and around Milan, they provide passengers with a very central starting point with which to explore the more Northern parts of Italy. There is no doubt that a rental car is the best way to check out the sites and attractions that interest you most. There are a number of car rental providers operating from Linate airport including; Avis, Budget, Dollar, Europcar, Lucauto, Maggiore, Sixt, Hertz and Easy Car. They all compete for your business, so by far the best way to get a great deal on your Linate rental car is to compare what they have on offer – or let us do it for you. We look at all their deals and prices and you get to pick the best one for you.

Getting there & Away

You have a few options of getting to and from Milan Linate airport. If you are simply looking to visit Milan itself, then travel by bus or by taxi. The bus take about 25 minutes to reach the city (Urban Line 73 and X73). The 73 starts at about 5.30am and goes every 10 minutes until midnight, the X73 starts at 7am and goes until 8pm (not at the weekends). Both buses cost $1.50. Taxi are available from in front of the arrivals area, just be careful of pricing, I have read around and the price for fares seems to vary, it might be better to take a metered taxi, as the fixed price ones I saw advertised charge a flat rate of $50 into the city, where a metered one can be $20.

Nearby Attractions

Milan Linate is located on the SP14 Rivoltana highway which leads straight into Milan but is also very close to the A4 Turn Venice motorway or the A7 which goes to Bologna and Genoa, so the whole of north Italy is now just a drive away.
