There are three main airports located in and around Milan; Bergamo, Linate and Malpensa. Malpensa airport is the largest of these three airports and is 50kms North West of the city. Getting there & Away
You have a choice of transport to and from Malpensa Airport; there are trains, buses, taxis or you can get an airport car rental. For all public transport simply follow the signs to the lower level of the airport. Buses go from both Terminal 1 and 2 to the Central station in Milan. These shuttles take up to an hour to get into the city and cost $7.50 on way or $12 return. The train is a 30-40 minute journey. If you choose to get a taxi, then these are located in front of the arrivals exit in both terminals, always choose a taxi that has a sticker saying ‘Taxi autorizzato per il servizio aeroportuale lombardo” to ensure no extra charges. Journeys to the city take about 50 minutes.

Flying into any of the airports in Milan; Malpensa, Linate or Bergamo provides you with a great starting point for visiting northern Italy. Because of the central location, in a rental car you less than two hours from Turin, Verona, Lake Garda or Genoa. Venice is less than three hours and this means you can explore the Adriatic coast of Italy or head to the mountains for some fabulous skiing in a short time.
